Reputation Matters

It is a well established fact that a developer’s reputation is paramount for being successful in the real-estate industry and there is absolutely no need to justify this as it is one of key factors a customer relies upon to get their money’s worth. From a developer’s perspective, it sharpens their competitive edge, helps enhance market value or brand image, ultimately resulting in sales numbers and sustainability in the long run.
How is this reputation built? Is it just the result of good work over long periods of time? If yes, in that case only age-old companies can boast of a decent reputation but what about young companies that have a lot more to offer. How do they manage to get a share of the pie? The answer lies in the company’s “code of ethics”!
The code of ethics is not something that is framed and put on the wall as a piece of art, but it is something each and every employee in the company believes in and practices on a day to day basis. It is those set of principles that stand like pillars of strength for the firm and its people. Ethics concern an individual’s moral judgements about right and wrong. Decisions taken within an organisation may be made by individuals or groups, but whoever makes them will be influenced by the culture of the company. The decision to behave ethically is a moral one; employees must decide what they think is the right course of action. This may involve rejecting the route that would lead to the biggest short-term profit. An ethical mind-set cannot be enforced. It comes as a result of a higher awareness of how business works best in the current times.
Issues may arise at any point of time where the trust between the client and developer is wavered but during these times, it is only an individual’s sensibilities of right and wrong that come to the rescue. It is important that both parties understand that it needs to be a win-win situation and deal with the issue in all fairness.
